Web Changes

Growth and Changes

February 2007

We will be moving this month into the new building. There are going to be new colors and new themes (eventually) but the same great staff. Patient enrollment is now at 5108. The predominant illnesses are URIs, Croup, Strep Throat and the Flu.... Spring is coming and so are allergies........

November 2006

We are on the move.....We are currently renovating a building at 813 BonAmi Street. We have bought this building and over the next couple of years, we will be adding an entire wing to the current building to double the patient capacity.

February 2006

Well we now have a extension to the clinic's name: The Perkins Pediatric Clinic, LLC. We continue to grow and we now see Kidmed patients for Dr. T. Griffin, Dr. Bonilla, Dr. F. Taylor, Dr. R. Duplechain and Dr. Granger.  Our current patient enrollment is 4249.  The illnesses that we have seen this year, especially since Hurricane Rita, are common illnesses that we normally see but seem never ending. We are constantly booked up one-two days in advance but on a brighter note, hospital admissions are the same as before or even down.

October 2005

We lost power for about 1 week after Hurricane Rita came to visit. We are open for business and undamaged.

August 2005

Wahoo, we have grown past 3650 patients. That is a lot of patients. Cyndi has been a God-send as she sees the children who need Kidmed checkups which leaves me to see the sick children. This summer has seen an increase in the MRSA in the form of recurrent boils. Why the increase? Well, besides docs who over prescribe antibiotics, the animals that we raise for food often have been given antibiotics in their food to make them healthier and antibiotics are in the soaps that we use every day. Word of advice: Plain old soap, when used, kills not only the bacteria, but viruses and other things. We DO NOT need antibiotics for hand washing! On a more jovial note, check out our NEW Inspiration section. Also, the West Nile issue was almost non-existent this summer.

February 2005

A lot has changed since I last posted an update. Our nurse practitioner has been moved to helping with the sick children. In her place, we have hired a part-time RN to help with the Kidmed checkups. This is Cyndi Wilbanks. Our patient count is now at 3200 enrolled patients and growing.

May 2004

We are doing very well. We have hired a part-time nurse practitioner, Anita Thibodeaux, to help with the Kidmed checkups. We are looking for a nurse to help with these as well.

September 2003

A special note to let you know that we have moved: 111 North Royal Street, DeRidder, LA 70634.

August 2003

We are on our own. We are about to move to a new location which is... more roomy in all aspects. The Fall cold season has set in. Health checkups will now decrease but in the future we are talking about hiring a nurse practioner in to perform these 2-3 days per week but we must move first. We have an enrollment of 2229 patients in our clinic.

May 2003

We have reached the end of our contract with Beauregard Memorial Hospital. We are now officially a private business. Summers are often 'lean' for the field of pediatrics but our plan is to increase the scheduled health checkups and to decrease spending until fall. We now have 2029 patients in our clinic populations and rumor has it that we are well liked. We look forward in the next year or so to finding us a new location, either building or buying a building, so that we can expand our services and the number of patients seen.

August 2002

We are now over 1 full year in Louisiana and growing steadily. We have approximately 1250 patients since this time last year. As you can see, we have redesigned the web page using Front Page. We hope that this will give us more control and ease in updating this page monthly as we would like to. We have a few big plans in the works. The first is to visit the Wal-mart to offer growth screenings with Miss Beauregard in the next month. The second, which is further in the future is to build a bigger clinic. We would like the corner of 190W and Texas Street. We are, and always will be, accepting new patients on most insurance, private pay, and Medicaid.

May 2001
Well the change of servers did not function well.  The site at AT&T would not allow Java Applets to function correctly.  Therefore we will remain at Tripod.com.  We have also reverted back to the name of The Perkins Pediatric Clinic.  We are currently searching for a applet to password protect certain areas to allow only real patients into.  If you know of a web program that will do this let us know.

April 2001
We have completed the change in servers.  Our new address is http://home.att.net/~mwpmd/index.html  The alternate address will be  http://perkinspediatrics.tripod.com.  Also, the Perkins Pediatric Clinic will reopen in De Ridder, LA on June 1st, 2001.  We will begin taking appointments on May 1st, 2001.  It will provide a place for children both sick and healthy to go for check-ups, vaccinations, and illness where they will get good ole fashion care by a physician who is very concerned.  This time Dr. Michael W. Perkins will actually own the clinic.  The Health Habits web page will remain but should have access controlled areas that actual patients can access for appointments and handouts.

January 2001
There are several new and exciting features to come in 2001.  First, a new look.  Frames will aid in navigation.  The site may be changing URLs soon so stay tuned.  The old two way communication will return but only for actual patients of the practice.  No giving advice to those who cannot see the physician.  The doctor will soon be associated with a new hospital and town thus giving him more time to this page once he has settled in.  Exact details are still in the formative stages.  There will be a return of the online access of handouts to patients of the practice only.  Of course there will still be links to every imaginable medical site available to all.  The guest book will still be utilized.

January 2000
A new and improved Health Habits page made it's debut on January 1st, 2000.  Formerly the Perkins Pediatric Clinic, Health Habits has changed in several ways: No longer will there be any association with the 'clinic' status.  This is a service from one parent to another and with the issue of practicing medicine to the world without a license, this page will not be bidirectionally interactive.  No medical advice will be issued from this page nor, unfortunately, will there be cute little hand outs.  Now with all that said...what will there be?  Lots and lots of connections to support groups, medical information, and fun places for kids to visit and explore. Essentially, all the good parts of the old pages will be left intact with new sites added monthly or every other month.  There will be educational and sometimes heart wrenching stories acquired through other media sources.  All of the information should be family friendly even though the page will be unrated.  I'd like to use the guest book to get a mailing list organized to mail all the visitors periodic updates.
